Meet The Maker

My passion for woodworking started in junior high with my first woods class. Mr. Steele was my woods teacher who had a way of balancing stern discipline with an approachable and likable personality. He wasn’t the type to let things slide, but his high expectations pushed me to improve and take pride in my work. Looking back, I realize how much his guidance shaped my passion for woodworking. He taught me not just the skills of the trade, but also the joy of creating something with care and precision. His encouragement and tough-love approach left a lasting impression that still inspires me today.

Cutting Board Care

Mineral Oil

Mineral oil is food safe that creates a water barrier on the surface of your cutting board. Mineral oil helps to prevent your cutting board from drying out and cracking.

Application

Using a soft cloth, spread two quarter sized amounts of mineral oil on EACH side of the cutting board, let the oil soak in for at least 5 minutes.  Wipe off excess. You can reuse your cloth each day if you’d like to minimize waste.  You can use your cutting board every day, just be sure to clean and oil your board after each use.

Washing

After use, wash with warm water and small amount of dish soap. Rinse and dry the board. Stand board on its edge if possible, then apply board butter as needed.

  • Do not put in Dishwasher or Microwave.
  • Do not use as a hot plate.
  • Do not use with a serrated knife.
  • Do not use edible oils: E.G., avocado, canola, olive oil on the board.
  • Do not submerge board under water.

Tips

If you notice certain symptoms such as:

  • Board may feel dry to the touch.
  • Water no longer beads on the surface.
  • You can feel the wood fibers with your finger.

Tips

Take the following steps:

  • Saturate the board with 100% mineral oil. You cannot over-saturate.
  • Allow a minimum 15 minutes to saturate.
  • Buff any excess with cloth.
  • Apply board butter and buff excess.
